Climate Protection Estate Bonn-Bad Godesberg

Property Description

Location The project is located in Bonn, northwest of the centre of Bad Godesberg, in Teutonenstrasse. Public transport, schools and a local shopping infrastructure can all be found nearby. The Climate Protection Estate comprises a new residential building and an existing one, which has been used as the official residence of the permanent representative of the GDR from 1974 until 1990. Southwest of the existing building is the former office building of the permanent representative of the GDR, currently seat of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung” (German Nutrition Association, DGE).

Urban Construction / Architecture The new building comprises 13 apartments in a three-storey building with a staggered storey. In the existing building 14 apartments have been created through conversion and upsizing. Both buildings are equipped with an underground garage. Above the garages there are gardens for the tenants. Altogether, 27 apartments have been created, with a total living space of 2400 m². Wherever possible, all apartments have been built barrier-free.

Energy Concept: Both the new building and the renovated building meet the passive-house standard. Two solar thermal systems with 42 m² of vacuum tube collectors on each roof have been installed on the roof areas. These systems provide 65% of the hot water and also a proportion of the heating energy. Every building has a central ventilation system with heat recovery installed. The production of hot water is decentralized using fresh water stations in the apartments. The remaining heat demand is satisfied by a central gas absorption heat pump. The facade is covered by photovoltaic panels serving as a sunshade and providing a total rated output of 10 kW .

Furniture Production in Rietberg

One of the key elements of the quality and service policy of “Rietberger Möbelwerke” (RMW) is the production in their new state-of-the-art furniture factory in Rietberg. The production site uses the latest technology for the entire furniture manufacturing process; the technical building equipment is also highly modern. The factory hall is heated by means of radiant ceiling panels and the interior offices use high-efficiency ventilation technology by MultiCross GmbH.

Succeeding all-round with the latest technology

SUBWAY in the Hoofdorp Cinema Complex (NL)

This highly efficient heat recovery system also operates during the winter – entirely without reheating. The ECO Smart control regulates the shifting of the energy flows from the exhaust air of kitchen and restaurant and the outside air.

Air Conditioning of a Production Facility in Neuss

This modern and state-of-the-art production facility required a constant room temperature of 22°C (in summer and winter!), but above all it had to be energy efficient. It also had to conform to the provisions of the German Energy Saving Ordinance and to the standard for new buildings defined in the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG). The decision was made to install a highly efficient heat recovery system (MultiCross6000) with a heat recovery efficiency of up to 91% in full load operation. An air-to-air heat pump using the latest technology carries out the required reheating of the room air. The ECOSmart control unit regulates the system, which is operated with a volume flow constant controller.

In order to ensure the constant temperature of 22°C for the production process and simultaneously optimise the energy consumption, the following functions have been integrated into the system:
›› “Free Cooling”, cooling using outside air
›› 10–100% continuously adjustable heat pump performance
›› Night operation with 100% recirculation
›› Energy efficient EC motors
Most important of all, the concept includes the highly efficient counter-flow heat exchanger with an efficiency level of 91%.

Renovation of a Sports Hall in Büttgen/Kaarst

The energy-related renovation of the sports hall in Büttgen shows us “how it’s done”.

The right combination for energy saving in this case was a combination of radiant ceiling panels with integrated lights and a counter-flow heat exchanger with EC motor technology. Heating now takes place via the radiant ceiling panels; the heat recovery system generates the fresh air for sports lessons or other events only when needed, once it has been triggered by a presence detector.

Community Primary School Kaarst / “OGATA” Kaarst

Passive-house standard.

A highly efficient MultiCross GS-H series system heats and ventilates the entire OGATA building. The combination of a geothermal heat preheating coil and a heat recovery system, both by MultiCross and regulated by a Siemens controller, has made it possible to open the first all-day school in the Kaarst area that conforms to the passive-house standard.

Bauhaus in Freudenstadt

New Laws, new Solutions

Sales rooms are also subject to the regulations of the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV 2009): Ventilation systems with a capacity of more than 4,000 m3/h must be equipped with a heat recovery system. Furthermore, the modular MultiCross system, with free-running fan wheel and frequency converter, plate heat exchanger, and summer bypass, allows the system to run in recirculation mode during night setback. This perfectly fulfils all operation modes required for a sales room.

According to the demands of our clients we will supply the roof control centre complete with substructure, outlet nozzle, duct components and Siemens control unit.

Star Games Casino in Versmold (North Rhine-Westphalia)

“Star Games”, a modern gaming casino, has been established in a former “Aldi” store. The old ventilation system with mixed air operation was heated by an out-dated Viessmann gas boiler. Above all, the new state-of-the-art concept had to be energy efficient, and it had to conform to the provisions of the German Energy Saving Ordinance and to the standard for new buildings defined in the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG).

We installed a highly efficient heat recovery system (MultiCross5000) with a heat recovery efficiency of up to 91% in full load operation. The required reheating of the room air is achieved by a total of 3 air-to-air heat pumps using the latest technology. The ECO++ control unit regulates the system which is operated with a volume flow constant controller.

Merschbrock-Wiese Spice Factory in Rietberg

The family-run spice trading company Merschbrock-Wiese is committed to uncompromising quality. Spices and spice mixtures form the core of the varied and high-quality line of products. This commitment to quality is also reflected in the spice trading company’s new building: It deploys a highly efficient heat recovery system (MC4000 ) with a counter-flow heat exchanger, combined with an air-to-air heat pump using a digital-scroll VRF system by MultiCross GmbH. These systems are in perfect unity with the architect’s high standards.

“Freiherr-vom-Stein” Secondary School, Kleve, Lower Rhine

The main focus of the energy-related renovation of the triple sports hall was the new energy-efficient heating/ventilation of the building. By means of a CO2 sensor, the MultiCross 9000, with a total air flow volume of 9,000 m3/h, provides demand-oriented ventilation of the sports facility; due to the high efficiency – up to 93.5% – of the counter-flow heat exchanger, the system runs without a reheating coil. A new radiant ceiling panel heating system and the high-efficiency heat recovery system form an ideal combination for the demand-oriented heating and ventilation of the modernised sports hall.

A total of 835 male and female students from Kleve and the neighbouring communities are currently enrolled at the “Freiherr-vom-Stein” secondary school, which offers a three-grade lower secondary level and an upper secondary level, finishing with the “Abitur” examinations (university entrance qualification).

Famous past students: Karl Leisner, Joseph Beuys, Jürgen Möllemann
